"Nostalgia is denial - denial of the painful present... the name for this denial is golden age thinking - the erroneous notion that a different time period is better than the one ones living in - its a flaw in the romantic imagination of those people who find it difficult to cope with the present." -Paul
"That's what the present is. It's a little unsatisfying because life is unsatisfying." -Gil
Since time travel is likely impossible and obsessions aren't incredibly healthy I think I'll just keep appreciating past aesthetics from afar. Speaking of which, I'm currently counting down the days until Moonrise Kingdom hits the theatres. I almost wish I hadn't stumbled across the trailer because my excitement is already getting the best of me. Damn you Wes Anderson! Well I guess I'll go google image Royal Tenenbaums and Virgin Suicides now to get my fill of the seventies saturated film colouring that I love so dearly. I hope I last until May. -Bets.
